new record?.... yes!
I've been telling you for months now that I had a new record on the way. And I do. I'm not gonna lie to you, it's been a tough ride figuring this one out. There has been plenty of soul-searching and gut-wrenching done by everyone involved in trying to lift this thing off the ground and I thank those people for their patience and for offering support through the whole process. I've contemplated a trip to the psychiatric ward more than once!
The last months were spent tearing apart, throwing away, dissecting and gluing my songs back together. We're in the first stages of pre-production on the album with producer David MacKinnon of the Fembots, a Toronto band that I just recently had the pleasure of discovering. Check them out, it's pure, genuine good music. And I'm thrilled about our collaboration!
If you'd like to hear some of the new songs, I've posted a couple of rough demos on myspace. These are the songs in their early stage, I'm sitting at my kitchen table with a pocket-size recorder, nothing fancy. Looking forward to having more to play for you! All the best,
Roxanne

I caught your show at Woodbine Park for the Beaches Jazz Festival beginning. Enjoyed it. Too bad about the overwhelming, muddy bass sound. The first song that you played from the new album sounded really good. The only thing I would have liked more in the show was more electric blues guitar playing from you, like you did near the end of the set -- you are VERY good at the searing blues guitar thing, so more of that would nicely balance the softer, folkier material.
